Lake
Erie
Clearwater Preserve in Port Clinton is in an area long known
as the Lake Erie “Vacationland”. The lifestyle
is decidedly centered on access to fresh water, which means
boating, fishing and all forms of watersports take center
stage for much of the year. Public launch facilities, beaches
and campgrounds are all very popular destinations. During
the winter months, outdoor activities such as ice fishing,
skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice-boating
make the fireplace even more inviting.
The area comes alive during the summer months, when boating
takes center stage. The charter fishing boat industry does
a brisk business, as do island ferries like the Jet Express
, which whisks passengers from downtown Port Clinton across
the water to Put-In-Bay for day trips involving terrific food,
entertainment, sightseeing and people-watching. Nearby Kelleys
Island offers a more laidback approach to spending a warm
summer’s day. |
